AJS Painting & Decorating was founded by Alphonso Rhodes in 2001. With more than 30 years in the industry, what started from a John O'Connor apprentice program has evolved into a successful and competitive leading business model. In 2014, AJS Painting received a Certificate of Recognition for successful endeavors as a Protege' of the Lennar Urban Mentorship Program and for growing AJS Painting & Decorating as an outstanding business in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Alphonso was awarded an "Existing Business of The Year" award by the Bayview Business Renaissance in 2011. In 2012 he received the Angela Cain Memorial Award and featured in Renaissance Chronicle of Philanthropy news article for his entrepreneurship success.
